About us

In the bustling halls of Punjab University, a young and ambitious student named Ahtesham juggled the demands of academics and financial pressures. Though he had dreams of entering the business world, his immediate goal was to secure a job through an important presentation. He invested in an expensive coat to leave a great impression on the owners of the different companies who were selecting students as their employees based on their presentation. On the day of the presentation, the weight of financial pressures and the nervousness of the moment got to him. As he sat in the library, trying to calm his nerves, rolling the front button of his finely tailored expansive coat between his fingers.  Suddenly, it popped off and fell to the ground, shattering into pieces. In that instant, his confidence weavered and he could not perform well in presentation.
Ahtesham felt a mix of disappointment and frustration. Determined to fix his coat, he gathered the broken pieces of the button and set off to the local market hoping to find a replacement. Much to his surprise, the shops in the local market had no match for the unique button. With a mix of hope and curiosity, he made his way to the wholesale market. To his surprise, he discovered that button he was searching for was incredibly inexpensive. This made him question the actual value of the coat, so he decided to delve deeper. He returned to the market and found that the fabric was also far less expensive than he had initially thought.
This realization struck him: the coat he had invested so much in was not as valuable as he had assumed. With a new perspective, he returned to the university, sitting under a tree, reflecting on the experience. He realized that the true value of things often lies beyond their price tags.
This eye-opening experience marked a pivotal moment for Ahtesham, setting him on the path to establish his own business with a newfound perspective on value and resilience.
With a spark of ingenuity, Ahtesham decided to turn his newfound insight into an opportunity. He sourced the buttons from the wholesale market and began selling them in the local market, quickly realizing that he could earn a decent profit even covering some of his university expenses. This success fueled his curiosity and he delved deeper into the craft eventually learning computerized pattern making from an institute in Lahore. Inspired by the potential of combining quality with affordability, he envisioned a business that could offer stylish, well-crafted coats at a fraction of the expected cost. This marked the beginning of his entrepreneurial journey, driven by innovation and a keen eye for value.
Excited by the results, Ahtesham shared his experience with his elder brother who was already working in a bespoke tailoring shop. They started with an old sewing machine and a small dark room. They worked tirelessly. And began to sell their products to local vendors. Their hard work paid off as they quickly saw a significant profit margin. Ahtesham and his brother set out to create a line of stylish and affordable coats in the market. This was the start of their journey toward creating a business that would eventually stand out in the market.
As they identified the market gap of high prices and poor quality,  Ahtesham and his brother named their venture BT Designs with the tagline "Affordable Luxury," aiming to provide their customers with minimal cost and maximum luxury. They opened a small outlet in Gujranwala, offering made-to-measure tailoring for executive clothing. To further hone his entrepreneurial skills, Ahtesham enrolled in Dr. Shahid Qureshi’s course on entrepreneurial mindset, which proved invaluable. Dr. Shahid recognized the hidden entrepreneur in Ahtesham and motivated him. He provided him with a platform for networking and connecting him with a broader business community.
Today, along with a shop in the market, they own small factory where a coat is intricately fabricated. Ahtesham and his brother uplifted their entire village by recruiting over 30 plus young men from their community, providing them not only with employment but also with essential training in basic math, communication skills and professional manners. As they matured, these young men were able to join one of the three key departments: stitching, cutting and quality control earning between 30,000 to 100,000 rupees a month. This initiative not only supported more than 30 families but also created a thriving, happy workforce.
As BT Designs continued to flourish, they expanded their offerings to include a vast collection of formal wear—ranging from two-piece and three-piece suits to tailored coats and dress pants. They also began offering complete groom packages, which included traditional sherwanis, turbans, and custom-made shoes.
BT Designs stands out not just for its custom tailoring but, ensuring every piece fits perfectly, but also for its comprehensive customer service. Ahtesham, with his fashion design certifications, provides personalized styling advice, guiding clients on what to wear and how to wear it. This attention to detail has made their garments highly popular and desirable not just within Pakistan but also abroad as they now export to international clients as well.
